New York has the Statue of Liberty and San Francisco has the Golden Gate Bridge. The Golden Gate Bridge is the most emblematic monument of San Francisco.
Inaugurated in 1937 (its construction lasted 4 years), it was designed by architect Irving Morrow and engineered by Joseph Strauss and Charles Ellis.
Since then, it has been the most famous bridge of the West Coast.

In other words : « if you go to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair take a walk on the Golden Gate bridge ».
And if you want to do so, we recommend an itinerary going from the Palace of Fine Arts (so you can visit it at the same time), then walking along the Bay Beach through Crissy Fields, until arriving at the Golden Gate Bridge.

A very easy walk to take, but a long one, though. You can take it whenever, in the morning or in the afternoon, as long as the weather allows it. The best is when it is really sunny so you can take some time to admire it (and the Pacific Ocean on the other side) without being cold in the wind. If it’s a foggy or rainy day, if possible, reschedule, for the same reason plus the visibility reason.
Nice tip : while you’re getting ready before leaving the house/hotel, make sure you take a backpack containing water and a small snack with you (you might even need a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen!) as it takes around 3 hours (with the crossing of the bridge, back and forth).
And don’t forget your camera.
Ready ? Enjoy the view while your out there!
